How It Works
Win by growing your influence while creating complete disruption in the body politic.
Each turn, you may wield your wealth to patronize a policy, individual, or organization. Your investments will grow your own power base, or dismantle that of your opponent.
But lookout! Become too powerful, and the socially destabilizing effects of your machinations might back-fire.
Keep cool, play your cards right, and fortuna will smile upon you.
Origin Story
Patrons of Power is a satirical game that was developed to introduce an enigmatic, serious issue in an engaging way.
Contemplating the subversion of our democracy can be an uncomfortable experience. For the author, the experience is one of fear for the future and a nagging sense of helplessness.
Through gamification, the author hopes to reach an audience that might otherwise avoid this subject in book-form, due to the uncomfortable experience it may evoke.
Now that the game has been developed, the author is searching for a recipient to gift it to, including blue-prints to print more, in the hope that it will be distributed.
Should the plan to use a card-game to introduce this issue prove unfruitful, the author might pivot to cook-books, TikToks, or zoom-backgrounds.
